We both work long hours every day. I sometimes don't home until it's dark and then we're both just beat. We have soccer and volleyball leagues that also keep us busy at night. Ben's birthday was on a Tuesday so we decided to do something that following weekend instead. We made a drive up to Camp Verde packed with shotguns and shells and make a weekend of it with Dave and Debbi. I went on my first guided chucker hunt and didn't shoot a thing. I think I'll just stick to clay pigeons. They don't really change their direction of flight as much. We had 5 chuckers on our hunt. Debbi and I were the first to make the shots and Ben would shoot back up while Dave was the photographer. I didn't know what I was doing so I just kept following the guide until he told me to stop and the dogs were pointing at a bush. I completely missed because my adrenaline was pumping at the thought of ending life. Ben of course was right on target and I think shot all 3 that we got. Debbi snagged one too I'm sure. I just posed with the poor dead things...which are now in our freezer. The guide thought it was funny and put one half dead in the back of my vest as we continued to hunt...that poor thing was still flipping around back there. Ugh *shudder*

dude. that would freak me out too. actually killing something. i'm down with hunting...but for others not me.
happy birthday ben! love you.
also, i'm digging that last pic. such and pretty view, pretty faces, and pretty sunset.
Yeah, Im not so sure how much I would like shooting actual birds or animals either. But I dont have to worry about it because I can't really shoot anything anyways. You on the other hand are an amazing shot, so I'm surprised that you couldn't hit anything. It looks like it was a pretty fun weekend.
I am calling PETA!
Nothing like shooting something to make you feel good;)...The bird hunt I went on was probably one of the funnest things I've ever done. I couldn't hit the chuckers for anything but shot a couple of the pheasants. The wobbling birds in your vest are the best, all though I couldn't bring myself to ring their poor necks. So glad you got to go, I've heard you're getting to be a great shot as well.
Sounds like a perfect birthday for Ben! I enjoyed looking at all the pictures of you guys!
It was a great weekend. You are becoming an excellent shot. Keep up the good work. If we ever have a competion with all the girls you will be on top. Love Debbi
