Come here Prettyboy...

This past weekend Ben and I were able to borrow some kayaks (thank you Seamans!). After much research on where to go - we decided on Prettyboy Reservoir. So we packed up the fishing gear, made a few PB&Js and headed out! Oh yeah and we left the sunscreen...

I have to show this picture because Ben is so proud of the rims. He's had the idea that he wanted to paint them black for a while. When I think of painted rims I think of ghetto spray paint. I was very skeptical but he promised it could be undone if I didn't like it. So here is the end product! I surprisingly liked them a lot! They look very professional and Ben was happy that I was happy.

The drive up to the reservoir was gorgeous! As we were deciding where to dock the kayaks we found some wildlife that needed to be rescued. This little bugger was crossing the street - I have a habit of squeeling when I see an animal about to get demolished by a car. So Ben stopped and helped him cross the street.

As we were looking for a place to buy worms - we found this vending machine. It was hilarious! There were no people around but the sign on it said "If the worms are dead bring it back for a full refund."

We were still on our live bait hunt when we saw some more wildlife in the street. He had just gotten ran over. I asked Ben why he didn't help the snake across the street. He said, " because its a SNAKE."

Our docking station!

Ok don't laugh at the rest of these pictures. So I used worms and caught the first fish of the day! (Ben said it was a blue gill, Colton I need a confirmation on that.) I didn't know what to do! Ben paddled over to me and took it off the hook and instructed me on how to hold it. I couldn't stop laughing because I was so excited/scared to hold the fish. It's been a while.

So this was my second fish. Same kind, I think. It happened the same way. I was all alone floating in the middle and had to whistle to Ben so he could come take it off the hook for me. This one was a fighter. First of all it was flipping in my hand and poking me with its fins. The next pictures are NOT CUTE but tell the story.

This was right before it fell out of my hands and into my lap. I screamed as it was flipping all over the inside of my legs!!

I finally grabbed it for a picture...

...immediately threw it in the water...

...and shook off the heebee jeebees...

Ben started off using luers but once I was catching them with worms he switched. So the total for the day was Caitlin - 2 Ben - 0

Oooohh!! That is so cool! You are so brave Caitlin. I used to be quite the fisherwoman back in the day but I'm afraid I would be a total whus now.

So do you have the day off for Memorial Day?? I didn't even think of that. I'm just sitting here on the couch ... I got a cold our last day in Mexico which is not so fun. Who gets a cold in Mexico? Anyway maybe we can get together later. ;)

Haha! That looked AMAZING! Fun times! Although I'm not surprised that Ben didn't want to help the snake off the road.

I'm a little bit jealous, I'm not going to lie. I don't know what that fish was without a closer picture, but I'm fairly certain it isn't a bluegill.

I've done some research. I'm not 100%, but I'm guessing that it is a white perch.

So we leave town and you guys get all adventurous with buzzing Ben's hair, painting rims black and taking out Kayaks? I think you might be able to convice Linds to paint the CR-V's rims black. Lets get out on those kayaks soon. I don't think I'll mind fishing, but once I get something on the hook, somebody else is touching that scaly slimy thing. These hands of mine are meant to fix teeth.

Caitlin, First ....please fix the spelling of through to threw and then fix the spelling of lures. Now, that really looked like fun! Heard about the burn....you know what they say about burns? I don't either but be careful ....even when it is not so hot out, the sun is a demon.
My memorial day was spent taking care of the little taylor girls. Jeff and Alisha arrived home about 5:30 I had planned to cook steaks and we had baked tatoes and corn on the cob and cole slaw. I am hoping that daddy and Ross will clean up since I cooked...but you know what they say about hope....it bloats...or is that floats? It doesn't matter I'll be cleaning up dishes tomorrow after work.
I have a hellish work week because we are staying later and our billing manager is out for a wedding. Big breath and now I must go to bed. Another annoying thing about his week......I am still wearing the 5 items of clothing I set out when we first came to Jeff's. I thought we would be in the house within a week. We are now pushing 60 days. "and we'll have fun, fun, fun til my daddy takes the T-bird away ay ay ay." Ignore that last outburst. I am not responsible for my behavior anymore. Goodnight, MOM

What a great adventure. I am really jealous. I hope that your sunburn gets better. Always put on sunblock, even if it is cloudy, you burn even more on a cloudy day. Ben, I am glad you did not pick up the snake, the only good snake is a dead snake. put a picture of Ben's hair cut on the blog. I weed whacked all day, moved a cord of firewood and a ton of bricks. My yard is looking really good, even though I will not be able to move tomorrow. Love the pictures and wish we were there. Love Mom(Miller)

That looked fun! I can't wait to start doing outdoor stuff. The fishing reminds me of last summer in Monticello. We'll miss you guys this year.

Ok Mom - I corrected the spelling errors. I can't find the right one for lures so deal with it. Next time you comment be sure you've had a good 8 hours of sleep. Love ya.

So this is really random but do you remember Grandmas dog named Prettyboy? I guess that question is for Ben since Caitlin wasn't around then.

Thanks for the chat and good luck with the flesh burns. Oh and thanks Cait I'm totally hooked on SYTYCD!

I love that you aren't afraid of fish!!! I'm also glad to know the Seaman's have kayaks. ;) I always stop and move turtles out of the road too - way to be caring and kind!

Okay, plenty of people have told you about sunscreen but just in case you forget again take some aspirin and drink lots of water afterwards to help with swelling. Unfortunately I know WAY too much about burns - I got 3rd degree sunburns on my ears once. Did you know that could happen? Neither did I until my skin fell off. Yeah, it was gross.

First of all...the worms vending machine is just wrong. YOu get all excited for candy and all you get is some worms? RUDE.

2nd of all, Caitlin...let me give you a little advice on sunburns because I don't think you'd heard yet. The best thing to do is to take a thing of crisco and put it all over it. Then get cherry pie filling...but not the generic kind. And put some of that on as well. Then take some tin foil and wrap it all up and try to stand with your legs in the freezer. I swear, its works everytime!
